HTC Rezound – Layout
The Rezound is larger than the Droid RAZR, measuring 5.08 inches tall by 2.58 inches wide by 0.54 inch thick. It’s also a little heavier weighing 5.78 oz, making it feel solid but not too bulky. The rounded edges, tapered corners, and soft plastic battery covering make it graspable and easy to hold. The HTC Rezound keeps a simple approach to control key and port positioning.
On the left side of the phone you’ll find the micro-USB compatible MHL outlet close to the base, and secondary noise-cancelling mic nearer to the top. The primary mic is located on the base of the phone, and to the right is the volume rocker. On the top of the smartphone is the power-lock button and a 3.5mm jack for your Beat earphones.

When you see this phone for the first time, obviously the display is the main thing you will notice. But this display may make your eyes linger a bit longer as they focus and suck up the details of that 1280 x 720 HD screen. It has a little more pop than any other display you’re likely to see on a phone. The difference is in the pixel density. With a pixel density of 342ppi on a 4.3 inch screen, the Rezound beats every other phone out there, including the iPhone 4 with a pixel density of 326 ppi.
Text, even how small it is, is crisper and easier to read on this display, and you will see no fuzzy or jagged edges when zooming and panning. As if the 720p display wasn’t enough, HTC has integrated the Rezound with Beats by Dre Audio. This was a massive $300 million investment by HTC, as more people are using phones as their number one music playing device. By teaming up with Beats Audio, HTC has made a serious move to win the mobile music race and grab a large chunk of the mobile audio market.
The Rezound relies on a blend of hardware and software for its Beats setup. Out of the box you get a set of iBeats in-ear headphones (valued at $100). When you plug in the earphones a custom tuning profile will automatically load. Beats is known for its emphasis on deep bass tones and the preset profile is set for that. It can be turned off and on easily if you want to hear the difference between the two. With the Beats combination, expect increased loudness and a broader sound range. The biggest winner here? Your ears.
HTC Rezound – Software
HTC Sense 3.5 comes with the Rezound and is really one of the most logical, and solid Android smartphone UI variations you can find nowadays. It is uncomplicated enough for entry-level owners to get a hold of, but versatile enough for individuals who are knowledgeable about smartphones, and want to take full advantage of that superb display screen. But beyond that, it is the Android OS that most have become familiar with.
Rezound has the typical collection of Google apps, like Gmail, YouTube, and Calendar, to name a few. But Verizon has also preloaded a nice selection of both free and paid apps like Slacker Radio, VZ Navigator, NFL Mobile, V Cast Video and V Cast Music.
The Rezound’s performance is snappy and smooth, as you would expect from a dual core phone. Apps open and close with no lag-time, multitasking is steady and consistent, webpages establish quickly, and pinch-zoom and pan work without any noticeable stutter. The Rezound will eventually be upgrading to Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

The HTC Rezound is one of the most feature packed smartphone in the market to date.
